Cone Christmas Trees - The Fluffy Kind!

I have to admit to absolutely loving the way these have turned out. And I am now very excited at the thought of decorating the house in a few weeks time. The first few stages I would rate as hard so aimed at older children and adults but the decorations can be added by any age!

You will need

Glue, paint brush (optional),scissors, card, chenille ribbon and decorations (spangles, sequins, pom poms, gems etc).

Chenille Ribbon is basically the same as chenille stems but without the wire inner. 

1. Draw a semi-circle on a piece of card. Cut the semi-circle out and shape it into a cone. I find it easier to use double-sided sticky tape for this. You could also use pre-made polystyrene or paper mache cones. The white card can show through if you leave any gaps when applying ribbon. Using a coloured card similar in colour to the ribbon will help hide any gaps.

2. Apply glue generously to approx the bottom 1/4 of the cone. Then tucking the  end back on itself, carefully wrap the chenille ribbon around the cone pushing it into the glue. If the glue is too thin the ribbon will not stick properly.

3. Keep repeating this until the whole card cone is covered and leave to dry. If you see any gaps gently move the ribbon to cover them. Cup hands and gently press the ribbon into the cone all over to make sure it sticks to the glue.

4. Now you can have fun decorating.
